Some of our Yesterdays is a source of reference on a wide range of military and non military makers. It deals with salient points in a clear and concise manner. A kaleidoscope of facts and figures over the last 200 years since Trafalgar and coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Victoria Cross during the Crimean War.

It sets out to keep alive the memory of men and woman (of mainly military distinction) who served their country around the world: the achievements, momentous occasions, remarkable occurrences, memorable anniversaries and commemorations and great events of recent history, reflecting the rich tapestry of the nation's heritage.

Here is a book full of detail covering not only recent British military history, but also a wealth of allied material covering a whole range of landmarks and milestones as they occured both in war and in peace time.

Much has already been written about the Victoria Cross - great deeds of collective heroism and individual valour since its institution 150 years ago. The author does not attempt to examine each and every award, but he includes many references to them in this careful and skilfully prepared chronicle of events.
